The big question

So I’m hanging out with my favorite 6 year old when she asks a big question.

We’ve got to spend some time with my awesome and pregnant friend, Kim.

Here comes the question…

Can you guess?

Mom, how do babies get in people’s bellies?

I first played some defense…how do you think it happens Paige? Nope that didn’t work

So here’s my brilliant answer…when a husband and wife really love each other they ask God for a baby and he gives them one.

Paige’s comment was yeah that’s probably right.

It worked for now. She changed the subject. We can get the details worked out another day.

Oh gee, I’m not ready for this heavy stuff.

The evolution of the suit

I found out something about my son that I didn’t know this week.

During our shopping adventures with my grandparents, we came along the cutest little suit for Parker.  I thought it was super cute but wasn’t sure how he would react to it.

When my grandma gave Parker the suit later that evening, his eyes got super big and he said, “Awesome!”  Immediately he had to try it on.

To say that Parker liked the suit would be a huge understatement!  He immediately decided that he needed to go sell furniture with his dad who wears a tie every day.  Parker also got upset that he could not wear his suit for our 13 hour trip home the next day.  I can’t wait to get the pants hemmed a little so he can strut his stuff!

Parker and his love for suits made me remember another little blonde boy who used to love suits.  My brother always wanted to dress up in suits for church when we were kids.  I had to have my mom send me some of these epic pictures to show where Parker’s love of suits comes from.

I apologize now to my brother although he is the cute one.  I also think that anyone who is my real friend will not make any comments about my appearances in these pictures or I will not pull anything from the family archives again.  (The real question is why do kids today not go through an awkward stage?  Mine lasted for 10 years  🙂

After all those crazy pictures, we didn’t turn out to bad!Adam’s love of suits has not turned out so bad, so I am going to keep encouraging  my son to wear suits.

I’m laying here tonight in my grandparents house thinking of how blessed I am.

I have the pleasure of having memories of three of my great-grandparents. I lost my granny (my last great) just 10 years or so ago. Man do I still miss her especially when we come to Ohio to visit.

When Paige was born, every single great grandparent was still alive. Isn’t that amazing? She has only lost 2 since then.

I have so many great memories with my grandparents. I love coming to see them and only wish I could come more.

I love that Paige is old enough to have memories of my grandparents that will last a lifetime.

I also love that when we come to Ohio I get to see my aunt and uncle and cousins. It’s so nice of them to take time out of their hectic schedules to spend time with us. I know they don’t have to.

I’m a blessed girl with lots to be thankful for. It does not go by unnoticed.

Thanks God!

I like to think I’m the queen of VBS.  I have been going to Vacation Bible School and working at Vacation Bible School for my entire life.  One summer of my life, I was a missionary and all I did was work Vacation Bible Schools and camps all summer long.  I have NEVER experienced a VBS like Rinehart Christian Church though.  This is my second year and I continue to be amazed.

Reasons Ilove VBS at RCC:

  • 150 kids and almost that many workers
  • Awesome supper every night even if they ran out of green beans before I got there tonight
  • The church is completely transformed into the theme of the year.  Last year it was a farm, this year it’s an airplane
  • Around 50 kids coming to VBS on buses and vans and the hard working drivers who safely pick up all those kids
  • Getting to know people and make new friends
  • Homemade cookies
  • It’s so organized and everyone does their job
  • Seeing kids from my school in a different setting
  • Cool t-shirts
  • Great songs that will be stuck in my head for a long time
  • All the great costumes
  • I could go on and on

There are two more nights of Vacation Bible School.  I know RCC is a little bit of a drive but I suggest you run tomorrow night at 5:30 to have an awesome dinner ad  6:15 for the fun to begin.  You will not be sorry.

Any Questions?

Random Ramblings

1.  I don’t reread books or rewatch movies very often.  Two exceptions:  You’ve Got Mail & 13 Going on 30…You’ve Got Mail is on right now while I’m cooking dinner.  I’m a happy girl!

2.  My garden is starting to have results.  I love this time of year!

3.  Watching Dawson’s Creek on Netflix makes me miss a simpler time that seemed so complex at the time.  It also makes me miss my college roommates awesome cooking!

4.  I am reading grown up books and loving every page of it

5.  Vacation Bible School starts at my church tomorrow.  If you have nothing to do this week in the evening, make the drive out to Rinehart.  It’s worth it!  There’s a great meal every night too!  (Translation:  No cooking for me!!)  I hope to see you there?  Let me know if you want more details.

6.  One more week of work and I’m a free woman, if I can get everything done.  I’m ready for the lazy days of summer.
